For several years, I have been sharing my passion for Shibori and natural dyeing through exhibitions, workshops, conferences and collaborations in France, Japan and elsewhere.
This page traces some of the highlights of my journey.
September 2025: a unique immersion into the world of Japanese indigo in Bordeaux (33)
From September 4 to 7, 2025 ESLA – European Shibori Lovers Association had the immense pleasure of welcoming to Bordeaux Kenta Watanabe, producer of Sukumo (fermented Japanese indigo) from Tokushima, Japan.
On this exceptional occasion, several events were organized around Shibori and natural indigo dyeing :
an intensive three-day Shibori workshop
as well as introductory workshops on Shibori and fermented Japanese indigo (Sukumo), led by Kenta Watanabe,
and the Japan Blue Daya unique event in France dedicated to indigo in all its dimensions.
The Japan Blue Day brought together an enthusiastic audience for a rich program featuring outstanding lectures :
Kenta Watanabe, on the growing and transformation of indigo in Tokushima,
Caroline Cochet, author of La Magie de l’indigo,
Françoise Carayol, dyer in Lautrec and specialist in woad (pastel),
Julia Tabakhova, author of Inside Indigo (remote presentation)
These encounters enabled new participants to discover the delicate art of Shibori and the beauty of indigo dyeing, while also bringing the community together in a spirit of sharing, transmission, and meaningful exchange.
March 2025 – Matsukazé Japan Festival – Mérignac (33)
Participation with a booth presenting Shibori, sale of handmade creations, and presentation of the European Shibori Lovers Association. Thank you to_Association Matsukaze Bordeaux for organising the event and to the more than 5300 visitors.

Solo exhibition on Shibori and natural indigo. Organisation of a big Sashiko stitching workshop for 30 people.
